Electric Starter Service, 9.9HP/15HP motors1993 Johnson/Evinrude 9.9HP thru 30HP outboards

Removal

Note Disconnect the battery cables at the battery.

1. Remove the two retaining screws.
2. Disconnect the starter lead at the terminal "E" the bottom of the starter.
3. Remove rectifier from the starter bracket

Note Before disassembIy, scribe marks "S" frame and magnet assembly and brush end .

DisassembIy

Remove the following:

1. Two thru-bolts "F".
2. Drive end "G" and the armature from the frame and magnet assembIy "H".
3. Brush end "I" from the frame and magnet assembly.
4. Pinion nut "J", spacer "K", spring "L", pinion "M", and washer "N" from the armature "O".
