  1. Check reservoir fluid level at least once per season or every 50 operating hours. System capacity is approximately 37.2 oz. (1100 cc).
    • Engine temperature must be cold.
    • Engine must be in vertical position.
    • Do not thread dipstick into hole when checking level.
    • Add OMC Power Trim/Tilt and Power Steering Fluid or GM Dexron II as necessary to bring level up to full mark on dipstick.
  2. Check belt tension and condition at least once per season or every 50 operating hours.
    • Replace the belt every 500 operating hours.
    • Refer to Belt Tension Procedure, this Section.
  3. Check the condition of all hydraulic hoses on a regular basis. Inspect for:
    • Wear or fatigue
    • Loose fittings or leaks
    • Chafing
    • Misrouted or unsupported hoses
  4. Replace the oil filter and system fluid after:
    • 500 operating hours
    • An internal pump or cylinder failure
  5. Check all water hoses leading to and from the oil cooler. Be sure they are not collapsed or restricted due to deterioration or misrouting.
  6. Clean and regrease the mechanical steering ram and the connector rod pivot points every 60 days (30 days in salt water). Use OMC Triple-Guard grease.
