Removal of Power Head from Exhaust HousingOutboards1966 Evinrude 33HP Outboard

a. Remove carburetor, manifold, leaf valve assembly, fuel pump and filter, and fuel hoses.

b. Remove manual starter. Remove flywheel, magneto, cut-out switch, and safety switch.

c. Remove port and starboard starter mounting brackets.

d. Remove armature plate support and retaining ring.

e. Remove throttle control lever by removing two screws and clamps, and lifting lever from lower motor cover.

f. Remove shifter lock spring and shifter lock.

g. Remove two nuts and eight screws attaching power head to exhaust housing assembly. See Figures 5-4 and 5-5.

Remove power head and place on bench for disassembly.
