Vacuum Switch Servicing - V6 Recreational
1998 Johnson/Evinrude 90 thru 175HP 60LV outboards
Function Test
- Reconnect any disconnected engine wiring and connect battery.
- Disconnect vacuum switch hose from fuel line and connect to vacuum tester.
Avoid accidental starting of engine; twist and remove all spark plug leads.
- Turn key switch to ON position.
- Draw a vacuum on the vacuum switch. The System Check gauge "CHECK ENGINE" light should turn on at the switch preset vacuum. Refer to chart for your switch housing color and opera- ting vacuum.
Model Housing Color Vacuum (in. Hg) V6 Gray 61/2 - 71/2 V6 Black 5 - 6 - If "CHECK ENGINE" light does not turn on, check warning system as described in Section 7, OMC System Check Engine Monitor.
- If warning system is okay, replace vacuum switch.
